If you go into the Synaptic Package Manager (SPM), search for "Kstars", and or its "extras", and right click it (them), like with most things, there will be "Recommended" and "Suggested" programs and applications that you can easily install with a mouse click. If you are getting a "python" error, then it would help to be more specific on what that is and exactly what you were trying to install when you got the messages and how. I do not think it is really necessary to have both installed, but you could. I'll try Kstarsīoth "Kstars" and "Stellarium" are stellar applications, pun intended. Note: I only have 1GB of RAM because that is all it will take.
